BCT - EMPOWERING FUTURES THROUGH LEADERSHIP
Empowering rangatahi to make good choices for great lives.
The Blues Charitable Trust (BCT) is a youth development charity on a mission to help rangatahi (young people) make informed choices and build brighter, more successful futures.
While BCT is proud to partner with the Blues to harness their mana and amplify community impact, the Trust operates independently. It is a registered charitable trust with its own constitution, governance structure, and strategic direction – legally and financially separate from the Blues rugby organisation.

ABOUT BCT
Grounded in evidence-based insights, BCT connects young people with schools, whānau, and a broad network of community, sport, faith, commercial, government, and higher education partners - empowering them to shape meaningful futures and grow as emerging leaders.
Legally and financially independent from the Blues rugby organisation, BCT operates with its own governance, while partnering with the Blues to amplify community impact. Grounded in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, we support young people from the Bombay Hills to Cape Reinga to grow resilience, find their voice, and lead with purpose - working with schools and communities to create real, lasting change.

OUR MISSION
We believe every young person deserves the tools and support to navigate life’s challenges and reach their full potential. BCT’s mission is to build leadership and well-being to bridge the gap between school, community, and career, empowering rangatahi to make informed choices that lay the foundation for lifelong success.
OUR VALUES
We are guided by the values of Manaakitanga (Service), Taumatatanga (Excellence), Whakaiti (Humility), Whānaungatanga (Quality Partnerships), and Mahi Kotahitanga (Teamwork). These values shape everything we do – bringing together diverse groups of rangatahi to grow through shared experiences. We champion a future where youth have access to opportunity, strong role models, and a clear sense of purpose.

BCT GOALS
Empower Leadership
Develop leadership qualities in youth, equipping them with skills that build confidence and self-discipline.
Support Career Paths
Prepare students with practical tools like personalised career plans, CV workshops, LinkedIn networking, and job readiness skills.
Champion Well-Being
Promote mental, emotional, and physical well-being, helping rangatahi make positive lifestyle choices.

OUR REACH
Since launching in 2022 with a pilot alongside Onehunga High School, Blues Charitable Trust (BCT) has worked with over 50 schools and thousands of rangatahi across Tāmaki Makaurau.
Our 12-month Youth Emerging Leadership Programme builds self-leadership, wellbeing, and career readiness through tailored school partnerships. In collaboration with Rugby for Life, we extend our reach into Te Tai Tokerau, offering community-rooted support that helps rangatahi grow into confident, resilient leaders.
